DAY 1) WELLINGTON
We say hello and take you to your centrally located Hotel. Today you'll get your gear and be introduced to your bike. Time allowing, you'll get to lap up the first of many beautiful coastal rides. Then tonight you can sit back and enjoy our Real Aotearoa Meet & Greet Experience and meet the rest of the group with a pre-dinner gathering and nibbles. |
DAY 2) WELLINGTON - REEFTON
274 kms / 3hr 45min + Ferry Crossing Today we set sail for the South Island on the Interislander Ferry. We then head south into the mountain ranges and the beautiful winding roads New Zealand is world famous for. We’ll settle in the historic gold mining township of Reefton, famous not only for its gold mining - but also for being the first township to have electric street lighting in the southern hemisphere. |
DAY 3) REEFTON - METHVEN
302kms / 3hr 45min Get ready for biker heaven. Today we’ll take in a little more of this beautiful bush clad scenery before getting into the seriously fun stuff! We’ll cut through the Southern Alps riding the incredible Arthur’s Pass viaduct into the vibrant flat lands of Canterbury. Tonight, we settle at the base of the Southern Alps in the small ski resort town of Methven. |
DAY 4) METHVEN - MT COOK (Aoraki)
263 kms / 163 miles / 3hr 10min After a light breakfast we continue south, traversing the Mountains en-route into Mackenzie Country and Lake Tekapo. After a relaxed coffee stop and visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd at lakes edge, we ride beside New Zealand's largest man-made canal system. Here on the highest mountain in Aotearoa sits your luxury accommodation on the near top floor of The Hermitage with its breathtaking views of Aoraki/Mt Cook. |
DAY 5) MT COOK - QUEENSTOWN
270 kms / 3hr 20min Today you’re in for some dramatic changes in scenery as we head south through central Otago and ride the alpine desert of Lindis Pass into Southland “Burt Munro Country”. Then it’s off to the adventure capital of Aotearoa, Queenstown. Surrounded by majestic mountains and set on the crystal-clear Lake Wakatipu, get ready to be mesmerised by this city’s natural beauty and unique energy. Then settle into your comfy apartment within easy walking distance of the city centre, skyline gondola and other major attractions for your 2 night stay. |
DAY 6) QUEENSTOWN
Free Day Today make the most of a free day – if you have any Kiwi adventures you want to tick off your bucket list, this is the place to do it! Get your blood pumping with a Shotover Jet ride or take a cruise down Lake Wakatipu aboard the iconic old steamship, the TSS Earnslaw. Tonight we take the Gondola to check out the views of the city, the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu – and enjoy a meal at the skyline restaurant, a truly on top of world dining experience. |
DAY 7) QUEENSTOWN - INVERCARGILL
188 kms / 2hrs 30min Today is a short but breathtaking ride to Invercargill. We ride east beside Lake Wakatipu before encountering the incredible windys of the Devils Staircase - taking us deep into Southland and Burt Munro country. Here we check into our accommodation, centrally located in the city close to the action with bars, shops and event attractions. Tonight, we’ll get you down to the rally site in our luxury van with live bands, dancing and plenty of fellow enthusiasts to meet and talk with, and no worries about finding your way home! |
DAY 8) INVERCARGILL
Free Day Today is a free day, so enjoy the many rally events and sites around the city! Check out Hayes Hardware - where the Indian Burt broke the world record on is displayed, visit Burt's home (yep it's still there), take a look at Transport World, or enjoy the different rally shows and beach racing. Your Rally Pass allows you to access the rally site and ALL rally activities, including the Friday and Saturday night concerts - so enjoy! Our van will be there to drop you off and pick you up when you're ready. |
DAY 9) INVERCARGILL - TE ANAU
159 kms / 105 miles / 1hrs 55min Today enjoy a relaxed start to the day, have a sleep in, maybe visit any sites you missed in the past couple of days or be street side watching the finals of the international motorcycle street racing circuit. After lunch around 2pm we’re on the road again this time heading deep into Fiordland and the lakeside township of Te Anau the gateway to Milford Sound. |
DAY 10) TE ANAU - MILFORD SOUND - TE ANAU
235 kms / 155 miles / 4hrs 30min return + Cruise + Stops This is a fantastic day out, both for the riding and scenery! After a great breakfast it’s onto our steeds and into the least populated part of New Zealand. It’s said the bush is so thick that if you walk 2 metres off the road you might as well be invisible! We’ll take our time and lap up Mother Nature’s handy work and man’s madness, riding from lush green valleys to snow tipped peaks. Before dropping through the Homer tunnel to the magnificent Milford Sound, were you’ll enjoy a premium cruise and lunch before heading back to Te Anau for the night. |
DAY 11) TE ANAU - ARROWTOWN - CARDRONA
210 kms / 130 miles / 3hrs + stops This morning we’ll get you back into the groove, starting with the gentle curves taking us back inland to Arrowtown for lunch, before the finale being to experience the infamous Crown Range with incredible views over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range. Tonight we stay at the historic and character-filled Cardrona Hotel for a real taste of Kiwi hospitality. |
DAY 12) CARDRONA - FRANZ JOSEF
307 kms / 191 miles / 3hr 45min Thinking it couldn’t get any better than this? It Does! This morning we head for Wanaka, a beautiful village sitting under the snow-capped Mt Aspiring. Then riding the edges of Lake Hawea on route to the Haast Pass, which delivers us to the West Coast of the Island and its amazing glacier milk waterfalls, thick fern, bush clad roads and ocean vistas. Truly today you ride through some of the most beautiful scenery in NZ – roads that will make you think God himself was a motorcyclist! Before arriving at our getaway for the night in the Franz Josef glacier village. |
DAY 12) FRANZ JOSEF - PUNAKAIKI - WESTPORT
276 kms / 171 miles / 3hrs 50min Today we start the ride deep in the rain forest with huge Kauri and Matai trees towering over thick native fern and bush. We visit the Bushman’s Centre for a very special NZ bush experience and close encounter with the local wildlife before emerging on the Tasman Sea Coastline. Next stop, Punakaiki - the world-famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. Then continuing North to Westport. A true portrayal of small town New Zealand with all the quirks of an old coal mining town. |
DAY 14) WESTPORT - HANMER SPRINGS
216 kms / 134 miles / 2hrs 50min While the experience may be coming to an end, the excitement’s not! Yep we still have more to show off with this jaw dropping ride through the Upper and Lower Buller Gorge. Followed by a ride through the Indus Pass to the resort town of Hanmer Springs, famous for its hot water springs and health spas. Tonight, we stay in true comfort in the centre of this vibrant township with the pools, restaurants all only a few steps away. |
DAY 15) HANMER SPRINGS - WELLINGTON
286 kms / 178 miles / 4hrs + Ferry + Stops After a relaxed start to the day, we’re off up Kaikoura coast with a stop to see the local seal pup colony before an early lunch at Wairewa beside the sea. The newly created road clearly showing the power of Mother Nature where the seabed raised some 3 metres in the 2014 earthquake! Then it’s off to Picton to catch our ferry across to the North Island. Once landed, we’re off to your accommodation in the capital. |
DAY 16) WELLINGTON - HOME
Sadly, this is our final morning together, meaning the passing back the reigns of your trusty iron steed and farewells back at our depot. This morning we’ve arranged a late checkout for you so you can enjoy a sleep in. We’ll meet you at the hotel and guide you back to our depot to complete the paperwork and then transport you back into the city or airport. |
